I moved to Almeria, Spain in 2022 to be an au pair- it changed my life forever.
I’d like to explain the why, and how, below.
Why?
Before my move, most people I told asked “why?”. Why Spain? Why au-pairing? Why Almeria, the tiny-lesser known capital city in Andalucia? My answer: why not? No, but seriously, I’ve always been a “free-spirit” and the itch to get out of Florida became unbearable after a move home and bad break-up.
When I got home to Jacksonville from San Antonio (shout out to my bff Elayna for helping me move home) I hit the ground running in search of a host family (Lies, I actually wallowed in sadness for a while following the breakup) but, I digress. I found what would become my host family, and friends for life, on the site aupairworld.com after filtering through all the Spanish speaking countries, as bettering my Spanish was one of my goals, as well as getting the hell out of Jax.
